The CIBSE Journal CPD Programme.

Members of the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) and other professional bodies are required to maintain their professional competence throughout their careers. Continuing Professional Development (CPD) means the systematic maintenance, improvement and broadening of your knowledge and skills, and is therefore a long term commitment to enhancing your competence. CPD is a requirement of both CIBSE and the Register of the Engineering Council (UK).

The Programme is free and can be used by any reader. It will help you to meet CIBSE’s requirement for CPD. It will equally assist members of other institutions, who should record CPD activities in accordance with their institution’s guidance. After you have read our presentation you will be asked a series of questions upon completion of the questionnaire you will receive a certificate showing you have successfully completed our CPD.

Please find below the link to our continued products development training presentation, in this presentation you will find an explanation into why fitting inline air and dirt separation equipment in heating and chilled water systems is the best solution to removing air, microbubbles and foreign particles.

What is a CPD

Modern society continues to develop in a time of rapid technological advancement, fast-changing consumer needs and continuously adapting working environment.

Professionals across all sectors are aware of the importance of training & development, and the need to enhance skills to stay effective in the workplace. So what is CPD or rather what is Continuing Professional Development?

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is the term used to describe the commitment to lifelong learning, a skill that is invaluable to all people across every segment of society. Employers and institutions across industries are adopting a structured, practical and methodical approach to learning in order to retain key staff, and develop the skills & knowledge in the organisation to maintain a sustainable and competitive advantage.

There are no fixed or standard approaches to Continuing Professional Development training and learning, but outcomes of CPD learning should always be clearly apparent and applicable. CPD combines different methodologies to learning, such as training workshops, conferences and events, e-learning programs, best practice techniques and ideas sharing, all focused for an individual to improve and have effective professional development.

Continuing Professional Development can be more simply defined by the learning activities through which professionals develop their abilities and ensure they remain effective, and increasingly capable.

Continuing Professional Development in itself promotes the concept of 'professionalism' however the requirements of CPD can vary from organisation to organisation. This is due to differing objectives, from using CPD for external delegate-based activities to implement internal CPD training policies to meet staff needs.
